City State Bank History

City State Bank opened for business on June 15, 1946 in Central City, Iowa. In November 1963, City State Bank was purchased by M.S.B. Corporation, which still owns the bank today. The bank moved from its old location on Central City's Main Street to a new City State Bank building at the corner of North 4th and Commercial streets in August 1968.

John M. Maurice was president of City State Bank from 1981 until his retirement in December 2005. With continued growth and its accompanying need for space, City State Bank completed renovation and expansion of the bank building in 1997, nearly doubling in size. Internet Banking became available to City State Bank customers in 2001. After 60 years in Central City, City State Bank opened its new Marion branch in July 2007.
