City State Bank History

City State Bank opened for business on June 15, 1946 in Central City, Iowa. In November 1963, City State Bank was purchased by M.S.B. Corporation, which still owns the bank today. The bank moved from its old location on Central City's Main Street to a new City State Bank building at the corner of North 4th and Commercial streets in August 1968.

John M. Maurice was president of City State Bank from 1981 until his retirement in December 2005. With continued growth and its accompanying need for space, City State Bank completed renovation and expansion of the bank building in 1997, nearly doubling in size. Internet Banking became available to City State Bank customers in 2001.

Bruce Anderson joined City State Bank in April 2008 as President and CEO. Eric Heims is Central City Market President and Steve Willette is Metro Market President. John Maurice continues to serve as Chairman of both the City State Bank and M.S. B. Corporation Boards. 2008 City State Bank board members are John Maurice, Bruce Anderson, James R. Baker, James T. Johnston, John Kintzle and Leon Soukup. At the end of 2006, the bank's assets stood at $78 Million.

After 60 years in Central City, City State Bank began construction in late 2006 for a new Marion branch, which opened in July 2007. Steve Willette serves as Metro Market President. The bank is located just off the Highway 100 Bypass by Menards. The branch features 2 drive-up lanes, a drive-up ATM as well as an in-house insurance agency.

The Bank is looking forward to a bright and growing future. We thank you for your patronage.
